Guidelines for business actors working in conflict-affected areas
The question of how businesses ought to operate in conflict-prone areas is of central importance to policymakers, NGOs, and businesses themselves. While some enterprises have found ways of managing risks in fragile contexts, the business world generally requires more and better guidance in this area. For this reason, a team led by Prof. Laurent Goetschel of swisspeace (University of Basel) produced a report summarising the latest instruments and guidelines that support conflict-sensitive business.
The report covers 20 instruments/guidelines established by international organisations, businesses, and NGOs. It discusses their individual development and how they contribute to conflict-sensitive business.
